let us tell you a story...
Although we may be filmmakers by trade, we are storytellers by nature. Venture into our world and let us weave a tale for you. We will tell you about life and love and fear and pain. We will show you laughter and tears, the devil and God. The story is the lifeblood of our world and nothing matters more.
…So lean close, and let us tell you a story.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are very proud to present our latest short film “Awake O’Sleeper”
A Hero comes from the wilderness to cry out to the captives, pleading for them to awaken. This short film from Whitestone was in part inspired by “Plato’s Cave” and depicts the struggle of freeing the captives, whomever they may be. This film is set to the song by the same name originally written for this film by the talented Wright Brothers: Nicholas Kirk and Billy Wilkerson.
Do you hear the Lion roar?

Download the mp3 of the song here.

The camera is wrapped and the extras have gone home. Everyone high fives each-other and we all leave set knowing we worked our hardest. The crazy part is, making the film has just begun. Awake O’Sleeper is in the editing process, where it will stay for a few weeks. There are over 70 shots for the three minute film, and with those, about an average of 10-15 takes for each of those, resulting in about 6 hours of footage in the can. Sure seems like a lot, but sometimes that’s what it takes to get it right. One of my goals as a filmmaker is to have no regrets. No sitting in the editing room saying ‘oh, I wish I shot that this way’, or ‘I wish we took a better take of that’. So the pain on set becomes the excitement in the editing room. For Awake, I have a lot of great stuff to work with, which makes editing less of a chore and more like a fun search for what will make the piece incredible.

“But it tastes good.”
That’s a quote from the back of my brain when standing in line at the supermarket, not a hunger pang in my entire body, looking longingly at the carnival of candy before me. The concept that they’re made to be eaten and ingested are the bare requirements to call these little packaged goods ‘food’. But it’s not food, it’s bad candy.
But it tastes good.
And that’s about it. Despite what the advertisements tell you, you can’t live off it. It puts nothing good into your body, and eat enough of it, and you get fat. Plain and simple. These rules apply in other places as well.

This is a story about a bus stop and a bench. Whitestone Motion Pictures joined forces with Gift Card Giver and Matchstic and picked a tiny run down spot in East Atlanta and transformed it into the most beautiful spot in the city. Join us as we celebrate the people who use mass transportation and take ‘just talking’ about change into ‘doing’.

This is our first installment in what will emerge as Whitestone’s Third Hour Project. More on that a little later.
