let us tell you a story...

Although we may be filmmakers by trade, we are storytellers by nature. Venture into our world and let us weave a tale for you. We will tell you about life and love and fear and pain. We will show you laughter and tears, the devil and God. The story is the lifeblood of our world and nothing matters more.
…So lean close, and let us tell you a story.

‘lest we forget’ production: day 1

It’s day one of three for production of “Lest We Forget” and the crews on set in the back woods making movies.

With upwards of 40 shots being recorded today, all hands are on deck. The grip teams working with the Fisher Dolly and the camera teams swapping Digi Prime lenses as I type.

We have civil war re-enactors from the 30th Georgia Company E regiment joining us on set today helping with accuracy and reenactment. They are here with muskets in hand and ready to fire!

whitestone announces next film: ‘lest we forget’

Whitestone Motion Pictures in association with PASTE Magazine is proud to announce it’s next short film project called “Lest We Forget”.

This civil war action short is being created as a donation to Paste Magazine in support of their “Campaign to Save Paste,” which is rallying together the artistic community in order to raise money to save the independent and innovative magazine. The film is centered on the idea of standing apart from what others tell you and sacrificing yourself for what you believe in. Approximate run time for the film is three to four minutes and will feature original story, cinematography and music created from within our Whitestone team.

doorpost: how to lose a film festival

The following is from founder and filmmaker Brandon McCormick of Whitestone Motion Pictures.

I want to start by thanking each and every person who took time from their day and voted for Awake O’Sleeper on the Doorpost Film Festival. It really mattered that so many people supported us on this festival.
I’ve won a lot film festivals in the past, and I’ve lost even more in the days gone by. As we are creating a collection of artists and a community, each win and loss is felt by all of us, as we all have ownership in the final film.

We were not fortunate enough to move to the next round of the Doorpost Film Project.
I’d love to share a few personal and honest thoughts on what I’ve done in the past and how I process a moment like this, as this is the most publicized festival we’ve been in as of late. Maybe it will be a help to you as you process similar moments in your own journey.

My first instincts are never the healthy ones.
