let us tell you a story...
Although we may be filmmakers by trade, we are storytellers by nature. Venture into our world and let us weave a tale for you. We will tell you about life and love and fear and pain. We will show you laughter and tears, the devil and God. The story is the lifeblood of our world and nothing matters more.
…So lean close, and let us tell you a story.

We are proud to announce that we have officially begun pre-production on our newest film, “That’s Magic!”. Due out this December, That’s Magic! is a story of a magician who has become disillusioned with his craft and no longer believes in the idea of magic.
What we’re most excited about is the format that we’re pursing with the film. Our team is hard at work creating original musical pieces for the film, and we are looking to films like Mary Poppins and Nightmare Before Christmas for inspiration on the ‘musical singing’ format within the story. We believe this to be a throw back to the Disney films of old, with our own Whitestone twist on it.
We look forward to bringing this film to you very soon, and we’ll be posting pre-production updates as always so you can keep informed and up to date on the production. Check back often for updates, and get ready for That’s Magic!

The following update is from Whitestone composer Nicholas Kirk, the mastermind behind all the score and music for our films.
“Hey, can you sing like a big burly man?”
That’s basically the question I asked a few friends recently. We just tracked a huge male group vocal for the new short ‘Awake O Sleeper’. It’s always fun to record background vocals (or “BGV’s” for you industry insiders out there) and this was no exception. We had 10 guys come in and sing their parts 8 times. That makes for 80 voices when it’s all said and done. That’s huge. That’s awesome.

Without getting too technical, the reason you record that many times is because, well, you can’t fake 80 voices. I always try and fake it for the demos, but in the end, more = more. The demo usually consists of Billy and myself singing the parts around 10 times to try and beef up what we’ve got and sell the idea. Problem is, it sounds like Billy and I singing 20 times.

Whitestone has begun preproduction on a short film entitled “Robert the Robot”. It’s about a robot who was made many years ago, and in his prime was the greatest thing around. But soon life has caught up and he’s been out dated. Until one day, just before he’s destroyed, he finds his real purpose.
The film has gone into principal photography, and will be released in a few weeks.
We will be doing a LIVE BROADCAST of our filmshoot on Friday, July 18th, at 5pm E.S.T.
Be sure to check back for real time updates on the filming and production of Robert the Robot, (we’re really trying to get much better at that!)
In the meanwhile check out some behind the scenes photos and screen shots from the film.
